Jenny's View

Friends,

Something I’ve always loved about La Fonda’s community is our shared understanding and practice of gratitude. The merits of gratitude have defined our tradition of hospitality for nearly one hundred years.  Being mindful and thankful for what we have has afforded us the strength to persevere during these challenging months. From humble employees and caring guests, to devoted vendors and local partners to our extensive outdoor and indoor dining options, we are truly blessed.

As you know, the hospitality industry in particular, has been hit hard.  La Fonda recognizes how fortunate we’ve been to remain open and to offer our guests a luxurious, safe and socially distanced experience. And we owe it all to you.  For your continued support, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I recognize that other establishments have not been as fortunate.

There’s no denying the extraordinary loss our country has endured throughout this health crisis.   I extend my sincere condolences to those of you who will be missing loved ones and friends at this year’s feast. And while this holiday may not entail extensive travel or large gatherings, let’s not forget it is a time to give thanks.

But on a more uplifting note, if you’re looking for a place to retreat and reflect this season, there’s always a place for you at La Fonda. La Plazuela will feature a prix fixe $55 menu (socially-distanced) where guests can choose from various appetizers, entrees and desserts in each course, from 11 am to 9 pm. A traditional Thanksgiving main course will be offered, naturally, as well as braised buffalo short ribs, salmon and New Mexico favorites like tamales and rellenos.

And in gratitude, we’ve made certain to continue our annual employee turkey giving tradition. Each staff member (along with those we miss dearly due to furloughs) will receive a turkey to prepare and share at home with their family.

In the heart of Santa Fe, La Fonda is anchored by history and defined by how we honor it.  That’s why La Fonda, along with the New Mexico History Museum, the Hotel Castañeda and MightMakesWrite LLC, are the cornerstone supporters of the Fred Harvey Weekend. While this year the event will be held online, we are doing our best to ensure it’s a success!  Mark your calendars now for entertaining talks about the man who invented the service industry in the West, Fred Harvey.  The notorious FredHead and acclaimed writer, Stephen Fried will spearhead the event that includes dynamic conversations and an online auction benefitting the New Mexico History Museum and improving the museum’s audiovisual capacity so all lectures in the future can be viewed live online. Sign up for the event here!

This November, let’s unite and nourish our lives with friendship and good deeds. Please remember to travel responsibly and adhere to established safety practices for the well-being of everyone.

All best,
Jenny
