Live at La Fonda

Veteran rockers who share a love of R&B, the Moondogs stick to “outstanding venues” like Las Vegas, Newport Beach, Vail, Banff—and Santa Fe, says spokesman Stuart Butzier. The six-piece jam band features Susan Bisong as lead singer, G.K. Jackson on lead guitar and vocals, and Dellmone on saxophone, all of whom can take a riff and run with it. “We keep it fresh by constantly adding new songs to our repertoire, including originals,” says Butzier. Cover songs sound new with the band’s original vocal arrangements and extended improvisation.

Rounding out the crew is Dr. Jon Myers on bass and Camilo Quinones on drums, who also plays and records with the band Los Lobos. Often they are joined by a Nigerian-born hand drummer who helps heighten the rhythmic intensity, “so audiences can lose themselves to dance,” Butzier says. The band enjoys playing La Fonda, he says, because guests “come to the party already in a mode of soaking up the special and unique place, which makes them dialed-in, engaged listeners.” Come feel the vibration as Moondogs rock La Fiesta Lounge Dec. 10 & 11, Jan. 30 &31, and Feb. 25 & 26.
