Jennifer Lea Kimball,
Chairman of the Board
La Fonda on the Plaza
Jenny's View

Dear Friends,

As many of you know, my brother Philip Wise and I, along with his firm Cienda Partners, are honored to be buying La Fonda from its shareholders, a majority of whom are the children of the late Sam and Ethel Ballen. Our longtime family friends have owned the hotel since its Fred Harvey days, and we all share a desire to keep La Fonda as a family-owned hotel that will continue to host generations of Santa Fe celebrations.

It may not be apparent, but the upcoming Dia de los Muertos holiday is also a family celebration. Ghoulish though it may seem with its theme of skeletons and death, this ancient Mexican holiday celebrated on Nov 1-2 in many New Mexican communities, is really a cheerful occasion to reconnect with loved ones who remain alive in our hearts. That’s why sugar skulls and marigolds are set out on brightly decorated altars throughout Santa Fe, inviting departed souls to return. At La Fonda, we’re offering a Love Is Eternal package, and encouraging guests to check out the Day of the Dead events at the Museum of International Folk Art over the weekend.

Speaking of celebrations, get your reservations in early at La Plazuela restaurant for our scrumptious holiday buffet, which always sells out quickly.  As we head into the season when the air grows chillier but our remembrances grow warmer, we invite you to continue thinking of us as your home in Santa Fe, a place to celebrate cherished ties both present and eternal.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Lea Kimball
