Jenny's View Dear Friends,
Probably the most important thing to me about remaining an independent hotel is that we can stay close to our roots in the Santa Fe community. That allows us to put our traditions and personal relationships above profits, trends, and return on investment—something the big chains are not free to do.
Putting personal relationships first has made us fortunate enough to end up with some of the best workers in the industry (who bring home top industry awards) and incredible visitors who return year after year. Because they don’t have to conform to a corporate script, our employees feel empowered to find their own ways to connect with guests and help them feel at home. That’s what makes La Fonda feel like family—a quality you can find only in an independent business.
Of course, it’s tougher to go it alone, without the deep pockets of a mega-corporation. But as so many industries continue to consolidate, we are proud to be part of the opposite trend—toward high-quality, hand-crafted, boutique, locally made products and experiences that are unique to the place they’re grown. Here in Santa Fe, we celebrate not only American independence, but the independent traditions that make us a unique destination, from lighting
farolitos to Indian Market to the burning of Zozobra. Smart and savvy independent travelers find this beats a cookie-cutter beach vacation every time!
To our continued independence,
Jennifer Lea Kimball
