Live at La Fonda
An inspiration to the likes of Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett (who always does a shout out and requests Bill to perfom with him each time he plays Santa Fe), Bill Hearne continues to tour and mint CDs with his signature honky-tonk licks, grand-daddy to the Americana sound that is the rage from Santa Fe to Austin. Hearne got his start playing alongside wife Bonnie, who retired more than a decade ago, and still “fills the seats,” as he humbly puts it, at La Fonda.
Call it country, Western, folk, or soul music of the Southwest, the Bill Hearne Trio has built a solid fan base in Santa Fe over the last four decades with his midweek gigs at La Fonda. Catch them this month May 7-8 and 18-22 before the band heads off on tour until they play the Santa Fe Bandstand in August. “We’ve become part of the fabric,” the Texas native once said, always graciously thanking La Fonda management for the loyalty he regularly repays by “keepin’ em dancin’.”
