Live at La Fonda
Pete Springer and Don Curry have rocked the better part of a decade together on keyboards and guitar, respectively, paying tribute to the Stones and Beatles, Journey and Tom Petty, John Mayer and Stevie Wonder. The new kid on their block now is drummer Ron Crowder, though the sound remains so comfortably old school, listeners have been known to clap after every song.
The audience will often hit the dance floor from the opening note, and the band is not above throwing in a two-step or waltz as a nod to local tastes. “It’s a special place for us to play,” Springer says of La Fiesta Lounge. “There’s no other place in town like it, from the descendants of Harvey Girls on staff to the murals on the walls. We bring in our own local fans, but the crowd differs from night to night.” No matter who’s in the house, the band is ready to “take the plunge” musically, Springer says.
