Jenny's View

Dear Friends,

Our ski resorts have had a roller-coaster season, from early snowfall to bone-dry to unexpected storms. But if we don’t get that another lift, so to speak, out of winter, I’m ready to head back into the mountains on some fat tires!

In fact, if you’re more the type to worship sun than snow, we’re proposing a virtual spring excursion to the Pacific islands with Modernist muse Georgia O’Keeffe. The O’Keeffe Museum has opened an exhibit of artwork created by the artist and her friend Ansel Adams in Hawaii that offers a deeper look at the perspective of two nature-lovers whose images of desert and island have become iconic. Spend two nights in a newly renovated guest room, enjoy tickets to the show and breakfast for two as part of the deal. Try timing your visit to coincide with one of the museum’s talks and workshops inspired by Hawaii.

If that seems like an odd theme for your visit to Santa Fe, consider that both places feature sand, volcanoes, a unique multicultural mix, spirit (mana), and devoted visitors who return year after year. Places of natural beauty inspire us all, whether it’s the exhilaration of riding powder or waves, photographing mountains or volcanoes, running our fingers through sand or snow—as Ansel and Georgia knew.

Aloha y salud,
Jenny Kimball
