The Canadian artist cleans, excavates, and assembles ammonites—the distinctive spiral fossils dating from 400 million years ago—and pairs them, in this case on a base of Turritella shell. “He’s an amazing artist,” says shop manager Heather Larson. “He takes what someone does in a scientific manner, bringing out the natural beauty, and takes it one step further.” Mama’s also carries polished ammonites sculpted only by Mother Nature.
